Motivate Your Child Review

MYC Book Cover

Having children is easy. Parenting is the hardest thing you will ever do. Parenting well is nearly impossible when left to your own devices.

Currently, my oldest child is a driver’s license-seeking teenager and my youngest is cutting her first tooth. With nearly 16 years of parenting under my belt, my parenting style has changed from one extreme to the other over the years. Though much as changed, one thing remain the same. I consistently used external motivation.

That is until recently when I discovered the invaluable technique of internal motivation or heart parenting. Through Motivate Your Child I have learned:

  • The four promptings of the conscience and how to coordinate my parenting to take advantage of them.
  • Ways to energize my spiritual training with fun and creativity.
  • A strategy to help my kids who tend to blame, rationalize, or defend wrong doing.
  • How to help my children respond to mistakes instead of blaming, defending or justifying.

Sounds great, right?

What if I told you that on top of all that, from this book you also will learn:

  • How to build a strong conscience to strengthen internal motivation
  • How faith changes kids impractical, down-to-earth ways
  • Ways to help self-focused kids think of others
  • Ways to use consequences for heart change
  • Specific heart-based strategies to develop responsibility and initiative

Motivate Your Child has literally changed my life and theirs. I have highlighted and underlined my way through this book like I did with my books in college. While reading it I wanted to glean everything, remember every technique and suggestion.

To be able to mold and coach your child into a godly young person who grows up to love and live for the Lord is an invaluable opportunity that we as mothers must take hold of.

Motivate Your Child will give you the tools you need to internally motivate your child using his conscience.

The conscience gives four promptings: do what’s right, deal with the wrongs, be honest and care about others.

Through reading and gleaning from this outstanding book you’ll be taught and shown all that you need to cultivate those characteristics in your own children.

I cannot properly convey how much this book is needed for today’s parents. I fully intend to recommend it to every parent I know.
