The New Year is nearly here. Are you excited and looking forward to the thought of new beginnings? Or are you bogged down and hopeless that this next year will be no better than the current one has been?
Have you made a New Year resolution? I haven’t. I don’t make New Years resolutions. Resolutions tend to be vague, unmeasurable, and more often than not- forgotten within a week.
Instead of resolutions, I set goals- goals for my family, my blog, my personal and spiritual life. . . You get the idea. As 2016 approaches I’ve seen a multitude of new resources pop up that are all designed to help us start the New Year right- Spiritually, Family, Business and Personally.
Through the multitude, I have found five in particular that seem to be especially helpful, practical, and useful.
5 Resources to Help You Start the New Year Right
#1 Make Over Your Mornings ($17)
One goal I have in 2016 is to be more diligent with my morning time- that small time frame between me getting up and the children skipping downstairs to ask what’s for breakfast.
Crystal Paine (Money Saving Mom) believes that starting your day well is the secret to better weeks, months , and ultimately- years. In Make Over Your Mornings, she teaches you through videos and a workbook how to maximize your time and begin the day right.
This 14-day course is designed to help you revolutionize your productivity, streamline your routines, invest your time in things that truly matter, and find more joy and peace in the process.
I am working my way through this course and LOVE it! Also, I just signed up for her NEW 4-week LIVE eCourse – Make Over Your Year. It begins January 7th. I’ve already looked though the workbook and am super excited to learn exactly how she and her husband have set and met many goals- both big and small.
#2 Praying Scripture in the New Year (free)
That morning time that needs more focus, it will be saturated with Scripture. Through Bible Study and using the printable monthly prayer sheets from His Mercy is New, I have a goal to faithfully finish the prayer sheets each month.
I will be starting with Praying the Scriptures in the New Year. Each new day I will read the designated verse and use Blue Letter Bible to really dig in deep. I plan to keep my printable and notes in my Bible journal.
#3 2016 New Year’s Missions Guide (free)
Have you heard of Daring Daughters? Until recently I hadn’t. Another of my goals for the New Year is to be more intentional in discipling my children- especially my teens. I found this New Year’s Mission Guide and can’t wait to make copies for my teens so we can work through it together.
This New Year’s Guide will help you to review this past year as you look forward to 2016, prayerfully considering your personal, family, ministry and mission priorities.
Ann Dunagan is also the author of The Mission-Minded Family: Releasing Your Family to God’s Destiny. I bought this book a little over a year ago and never read it. Guess what’s on my January 2016 To-Read List?
#4 Homemaking System for the Domestically Challenged eCourse & Planner ($20)
Proverbial Homemaker is hands down one of my favorite resources. From homeschooling curriculum to helping me build my family firmly on the Rock- I’m always able to find just what I need with a few clicks on her blog. Her latest gem is a Homemaking System for the Domestically Challenged eCourse. It includes a 7-day step-by-step course that comes right to your inbox. And don’t forget the free planner.
- Set a homemaking vision
- Evaluate priorities and routines
- Create a flexible weekly schedule
- Cultivate good homemaking habits
- Set goals and track progress
- Plan with monthly calendars
- Set a customized cleaning schedule
- Tackle your work with weekly and daily planners
The best part about all this is that that the eCourse tells you exactly how to use each of the pages in the planner. There’s NO guess work!

#5 Blog Like a Pro Planner ($27)
Como Blog has put out a fabulous Blog Like a Pro Planner. There are more than 80 workable pages with detailed instructions for each and every one of them. I’ve been working with this planner for nearly a month now and WOW! My blog work has never been more organized. I just print the pages I want as I need them and continue to expand my blogging binder.
Some things you’ll find inside:
- goal planning
- task management
- statistics tracking
- writing pages
It really has been a great investment for me.
