Yesterday I shared 5 of the 10 things we do (pretty much) every day to keep the gentle productivity going. If you missed Part 1, you can find it here.
Today I’m excited to share the other 5 with you! So let’s jump right in!
Plan Your Days With Gentle Productivity
Have a quiet time
This may seem silly, but hear me out. Most days from 1 to 3 o’clock, we settle in somewhere with our feet up and listen to an audiobook. If not an audiobook, then we watch a movie, or nap even.
We do whatever we want, as long as it’s quiet. Some might read or color. Others will needle felt or cross stitch. The point is, for that two-hour window, the baby naps, and we recharge. Come 3 o’clock I get the baby up and we all have a snack together.
Clean as you go
Simply wiping the counter after lunch or putting the laundry away as soon as it comes out of the dryer can make a big impact on the overall cleanliness of the house.
Put your shoes away as soon as you get home and make sure the kids do the same. Train them to hang up their jackets and bags when you get home instead of just leaving them on the floor.
Cleaning as you go will save you tons of stress and time at the end of the day.
Smile and laugh
Take a moment and think about it – how often do you smile at your children?
Do you laugh with them or simply tell them to knock off their silliness? Make a point to smile and laugh with your kids more. Trust me on this, you’ll be glad you did.
Ever get frustrated with the shoes, dishes, or mess everywhere? Yeah, me too. Next time you have to pick up after your family, instead of getting grumpy, practice being thankful.
Thankful for the people in your life that eat off of those dishes. Thankful for the food you have to put away. Thankful for the feet that wear those dirty socks you find shoved in the couch.
Before long, you’ll have created a new habit of thankfulness!
Have a bedtime routine
If nothing else, have a bedtime routine. Get things ready for the next day. Take a look at your meal plan to see if you need to take anything out of the freezer. IIf you’re going somewhere, set the clothes and SHOES out before you go to bed.
So there you have it! The 10 things we do each day to keep everyone on board, and the day moving along smoothly.
